Clarity: One of the key roles of a coach is that of a curious questioner. My Whole Life uses a Socratic method to evoke your own insight, intuition, awareness, and wisdom and find clarity. To create a clear, well-formed outcome we use Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) techniques employed by Tony Robbins and others. Once we have clarity about our goals, needs, or desired outcome progress is much more attainable. Some key areas our initial questioning include understanding your values, purpose, vision, and goals for coaching. This information forms the basis of a personal assessment and represents what matters most to you.
Observer: Generally, when a person has worked on an issue at length their lens begins to shorten and they lose perspective. My Whole Life coaches help you step back, and see the whole of the situation as an observer. We also serve as mirrors for you by helping you understand how understand how your word choice, language, voice, eye patterns, and energy level reveal your internal experience and emotions. This is called Third Level Listening. My Whole Life also uses a combination of NLP and Voice Dialogue techniques based on the work of C.G. Jung to uncover what is happening internally. For example, a person may say she is excited about a project, yet all signals point otherwise. Her words reveal that she believes she “should” do it versus wants to do it, her body is slumped over, and her voice lowers and energy level drops when discussing the problem.
Alignment: While clarity on what matters most to you is important, it is meaningless unless it is consistently put into action. Ultimately, we want you to create a whole new way of living. We do this by building stronger connections with your values, purpose, vision, and goals and the ongoing choices you make in life. In each session, we take information from your initial personal assessment and use it to motivate you and guide your choices and actions. For example, you may say that family is your first priority, but consistently arrive late for important family events due to work commitments. Alignment shines a light on these inconsistencies in order for you to live your life with integrity.
Create Solutions: Good decision-making involves fresh perspective, deep analysis, intellectual challenge, and a plan with a broad set of options. Often we narrow options prematurely. At My Whole Life we use a combination of coaching and consulting techniques to help you see the vastness of your potential and challenge you to think more deeply. This means asking you to go beyond the obvious and examine all possibilities and choices. It also involves seeing all your talents and allowing them to emerge and grow. We employ consulting techniques when you have tapped all your inner wisdom and will benefit from our unique business training and knowledge. Our consulting includes relevant tools, concepts, and models to help you think through options and put together a strategy, tactics, and action plan.
Hold Accountable: We work with you to define the most effective tools and processes for you to hold you accountable. We may ask you to create a follow-up email with action items after each session, or send you an email reminder the day before. We can act as a cheerleader and acknowledge your progress. Or, we can act as a tough but supportive sports coach and ask you to stretch and challenge yourself beyond your perceived limits
